Ben Affleck is eyeing an adaptation of Ken Grimwood's novel REPLAY as his next directing project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jason Smilovic wrote a new take on the script. The story follows a 45-year-old man who suffers a heart attack while stopping an attack on a female jogger. He is then reborn as his 18-year-old self with the knowledge of his past time around. Even though he changes his life he continues to die at 45 and replays his life again.

The project has been in development at Warner Bros. since 1988. Peter Hyams, Richard LaGravenese and more have taken a stab at the scribe over the years. Along the way, the production has interested Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.
