Affiliate animator Jean Detheux will be hosting "Animated Abstract Expressionism: A Digital Jam Session" at the 2001 International Student Festival Ottawa (SAFO). The workshop will feature one animator, one composer and one editor on three networked computers. Live animation, music composition and editing come together with an emphasis on spontaneity, improvisation, play and discovery. The animation and composing processes will be seen and heard at all times, while the editor's work will be shown at regular intervals. The scheduled workshop participants are Jean Detheux (animator), Scott Lahteine (composer) and Sharon Katz (editor). SAFO will take place in Ottawa from October 18 - 21, 2001.
