Digital Production Management (DPM) systems provider NXN Software has begun shipping an upgrade to the NXN alienbrain plug-in for the Softimage|XSI v.2.0 nonlinear animation system (NLA). Using the advanced NetView technology of the XSI system, users can access many of the asset and workflow management features found in NXN alienbrain 5.0 directly from a pop-up window in the Softimage|XSI interface. This will enable users to access, edit, rollback and version control their scenes, textures and animations using NXN alienbrain's secure client/server environment. In addition, the advanced plug-in interface allows artists and project managers to assign a status and due dates to files, as well as lock files from further changes once a file is approved for use. The Softimage|XSI integration comes standard with the latest service release of NXN alienbrain 5.0. A new Reference Manager which will enable artists to handle local and networked file collections, directly import scenes, textures and animation files to the NXN alienbrain database and create frequently used asset folders is scheduled for release in May.
