ADV Films Lands MADLAX Rights

On Sept. 25, 2004, at the Anime Weekend Atlanta convention, ADV Films co-founder Matt Greenfield and ADV representative David Williams let slip that the company had acquired the new anime series MADLAX. ADV will release the new series from Bee Train (NOIR, .HACK// SIGN) on home video and it will broadcast on the Anime Network. A release date has not yet been announced.

Weve been waiting for this show ever since NOIR ended, confirmed Greenfield, who, in addition to his role as a vp of ADV Films, was the writer, producer and director of the English language version of that series. Many of the key players for NOIR were reunited for this project, which features similar themes, equally gorgeous character designs and even bigger and more elaborate action sequences. While I hate to call anything the ultimate girls with guns anime, given the propensity of anime producers for topping themselves, MADLAX is definitely the state of the art as it stands, and the kind of show that will have fans glued to the edge of their seats!

From director Koichi Mashimo (NOIR, SORCERER HUNTERS, IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLOR), the new series follows female gun-for-hire Madlax and student Margaret as they discover that their seemingly different lives share a deadly connection, one that they must uncover and solve before the dark forces opposing them end their lives forever.

ADV Films is the #1 producer-distributor of Japanese animation for the North American market and has also developed a leadership position in the U.K. Parent company, A.D. Vision, Inc., encompasses a multitude of complementary media divisions, spanning publishing, television, licensing and merchandising. For more information, visit www.advfilms.com.
