Starting the new year off with a big bang, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim annual New Year's Eve Bash (Wednesday, 11:00 pm 2:00 am) out-scored last year's time period by double and triple digits, according to Nielsen Media Research. The Sunday-Thursday night Adult Swim telecasts also continued to climb in delivery and ratings for targeted young adults.
Highlights of Adult Swim's performance vs. the same time period last year include the following:Adult Swim New Year's Eve Bash* Adults 18-24 delivery (171,000) increased by 34% and ratings (0.6) by 20%.* Men 18-24 delivery (107,000) improved by 118% and ratings (0.8) by 100%.* Men 18-34 delivery (146,000) grew by 45% and ratings (0.4) by 33%.Adult Swim (Monday-Thursday, Sunday)* Adults 18-34 delivery (278,000) expanded by 25% and ratings (0.4) by 33%.* Adults 18-24 delivery (154,000) jumped by 14% and ratings (0.6) by 20%.* Men 18-34 delivery (169,000) rose by 34% and ratings (0.5) by 25%.* Men 18-24 delivery (89,000) lifted by 14% and ratings (0.6) were unchanged.
In addition, Cartoon Network's Emmy Award-winning SAMURAI JACK improved weeknight performance:Samurai Jack (Monday-Thursday, 10:30 pm vs. last year)* Kids 6-11 delivery (497,000) grew by 21% and ratings (2.1) by 24%.* Kids 2-11 delivery (764,000) improved by 5% and ratings (1.9) by 6%.* Boys 6-11 delivery (401,000) rose by 25% and ratings (3.3) by 32%.* Boys 2-11 delivery (529,000) increased by 15% and ratings (2.6) by 18%.
Cartoon Network original series -- THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY & MANDY (9:00-10:00 am), ED, EDD N EDDY (10:00-11:00 am) and CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR (11:00 am 12:00 pm) -- also ranked #1 in their Monday-Friday time periods last week with kids 6-11, boys 6-11 and boys 2-11. Both delivery and ratings grew by significant double digits across each demographic.
