Casting has ramped up for the two female leads in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, according to The Hollywood Reporter. One will be a villain and the other a love interest. With the news that one of the roles is Talia, we're not sure which slot she fits into. In Batman lore, she is Batman enemy Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, who was a love interest and enemy from time to time, who had a child with Bruce Wayne. Ra's Al Ghul appeared in BATMAN BEGINS, played by Liam Neeson.

The list of actresses coming in for tests includes Keira Knightley (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN), Anne Hathaway (GET SMART), Jessica Biel (THE A-TEAM), Kate Mara (127 HOURS), Charlotte Riley (British TV's THE TAKE and the fiancée of INCEPTION's Tom Hardy) and Gemma Arterton (CLASH OF THE TITANS). Previously it was reported that Naomi Watts (KING KONG) and Eva Green (CASINO ROYALE) were in the running, but both are unavailable for tests at the moment, but that doesn't rule them out.

Director Christopher Nolan, David Goyer, Jonathan Nolan penned the script. Nolan, Emma Thomas and Charles Roven are the producers. Christian Bale will reprise his role as the Dark Knight.

Production is set to begin in May.
