Activision Releases Poker, Hunting & Pool Games

Activision has a host of sporting games with WORLD SERIES OF POKER, CABELA'S OUTDOOR ADVENTURES and THE HUSTLE: DETROIT STREETS.

WORLD SERIES OF POKER is the official videogame of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournament. Set around the main table at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas, the game authentically captures all of the high-stakes action from the likeness and play styles of renowned pros like Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and 14 other top poker players to the accurate recreation of the WSOP poker room, down to the carpet and the wallpaper.

"World Series of Poker is the #1 brand in poker and this title is the most authentic poker game on the market today," said David Oxford, Activision Inc. "By facing off against the game's advanced AI opponents, players will experience what it's like to pull up a chair at the WSOP tournament table a virtual unknown and leave with all the fame and fortune of today's most popular poker champions."

In WORLD SERIES OF POKER, players ante up to play seven variations of poker, including Texas Hold 'Em, 7 Card Stud, Omaha and Razz, where poker enthusiasts will bluff, fold and call their way to the top. The game allows players to develop their own strategies with the ability to customize everything from their poker faces, appearances and Vegas-style threads. Players can even choose their own catch phrases, also known as "table-talk," to bluff opponents. As players win pots, they can upgrade their clothing and take advantage of hotel upgrades, bringing the Strip to the privacy of their own homes.

WORLD SERIES OF POKER is available for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and the Nintendo GameCube, for the suggested retail price of $29.99. The PSP carries a suggested retail price of $39.99 and the PC version carries a suggested retail price of $19.99. All versions have been rated "E10+" by the ESRB.

In the first combination hunting and fishing adventure ever offered, players fly, float and trek across North America and beyond in CABELA'S OUTDOOR ADVENTURES videogame. Exploring various locations including Utah, Mexico and New Zealand, players have the opportunity to hunt for trophy big game, fish local waters and compete in marksmanship contests. Additional challenges include fending off wildlife, rescuing distressed outdoorsmen and racing against time.

"OUTDOOR ADVENTURES will impress even the most seasoned outdoorsman with its authenticity and realism," said Dave Oxford, gm of Activision Value. "We took painstaking measures to ensure that everything from kill shots to challenging fish battles were as true to real life as possible."

In CABELA'S OUTDOOR ADVENTURES, players travel to locations across the globe to challenge their hunting and fishing skills. The game features realistic big game, fish and small game behaviors, animations and graphics and a complete line of genuine Cabela's hunting and fishing gear.

The game is available for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube for the suggested retail price of $29.99. The game has been rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB.

Activision Value Publishing Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision Inc., has teamed up with European videogame developer, Blade Interactive Studios, to publish THE HUSTLE: DETROIT STREETS. The game will be available on the PSP this fall and for several other consoles this winter. It is rated "T" by the ESRB.

THE HUSTLE: DETROIT STREETS lets players take on the role of either Jack Stone or Kat Hudson as they make their way through the pool halls and clubs of Detroit. Players hone their pool skills and work their way to the top of the pool circuit through two different game modes single-player story mode, playing as either Jack or Kat in their quest for respect and cash, or single-player single game, where they can practice their skills by playing one-off matches against AI opponents. Additionally, for the PSP system, players can play pool using multiplayer and multiplayer over Wi-Fi where they can try to run the table against other gaming pool sharks.

All of the modes feature a number of trickshots and challenges, which allow players to earn prize money, face off against other players and buy new items such as clothes and cues at local shops. Players make their money gambling on their own matches, hustling, betting on shots and betting on other pool matches. As players progress through the game and meet certain criteria, different game play modes and items are unlocked. Challenges, new venues, different clothes and characters unique to each venue become available as players climb their way to the top of their pool game.

"We are excited to be working with Blade Studios in the development of THE HUSTLE: DETROIT STREETS. With its different modes of play, trickshots and challenges, this title delivers the most realistic pool experience ever brought to a videogame," states Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing Inc. "Blade brings a level of experience that will allow players to feel all the pressure, excitement and defeat that a real pool player feels as they shoot their way through the rough and tumble Detroit pool circuit attempting to rack up points and earn bread money.
