Warner Bros. has hired Sam Worthington to play the title character in its adaptation of DAN DARE, reports VARIETY. Created by Frank Hampson, DAN DARE started as a comic in 1950 and has been adapted into radio and TV shows.

Called the British Buck Rodgers, the story follows an Interplanet Space Fleet pilot who explores planets with alien life.

Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk will produce. Colin Frewin, who holds the film rights, will exec produce with Dan Lin.
