SPY KIDS mom Carla Gugino is set to star in Fox's adaptation of MR. POPPER'S PENGUINS, reports Variety. Based on Richard and Florence Atwater's 1938 kids' book, the modernized story finds Jim Carrey as Mr. Popper, a busy businessman who inherits six penguins, which greatly complicate his life.

Davis Ent.'s John Davis is producing. Mark Waters (FREAKY FRIDAY) will direct.

Previously, director Noah Baumbach (GREENBERG) was circling the project with Ben Stiller set to star.
