Sofia Vergara, the sexy Colombian actress from TV’s MODERN FAMILY, has been cast in Sony’s THE SMURFS, reports HEAT VISION. She takes on the role of Odile, the boss of Neil Patrick Harris’s character at a French cosmetics firm.

She joins Jonathan Winters, Jayma Mays and Hank Azaria in the live-action/CG hybrid. SCOOBY-DOO helmer Raja Gosnell is directing. Columbia Pictures plans to release the film next summer. Live-action production is scheduled to begin in NYC on Monday.

This marks Vergara second animation related role in a short time. She was recently cast in HAPPY FEET 2, which includes her SMURFS co-star Azaria as well. Robin Williams and Elijah Wood are returning with the addition of Brad Pitt.
