Robert Schwentke (RED) is set to direct Ryan Reynolds in an adaptation of R.I.P.D., reports VARIETY. Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi are penning the screenplay, which follows police for the dead where a recently dead officer partners with an officer who has been dead for a hundred years. Peter Lenkov created the Dark Horse comic on which the film will be based.

Dark Horse's Mike Richardson and Lawrence Gordon, and Original Film's Neal Moritz will produce. Scott Bernstein and Maradith Frenkel will shepherd for Universal.
