Max Martini (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN) has joined the cast of Guillermo del Toro-directed PACIFIC RIM, reports Variety. He will play a member of the resistance against an alien invasion. The cast already includes Charlie Hunnan, Idris Elba and Charlie Day.

After an alien invasion, humans come together and use mecha to fight back.

Travis Beacham is writing the Legendary Pictures production. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are the producers.

Filming will start this fall.
