Tim Gunn, the PROJECT RUNWAY host, has joined the cast of Columbia's THE SMURFS, reports VARIETY. He will play a cosmetic company executive assistant.

Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria and Sofia Vergara are in live-action parts. The voice cast includes Katy Perry, Fred Armisen, George Lopez, Anton Yelchin, Alan Cumming, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck and Jonathan Winters.

Raja Gosnell is the director.

Production has begun in New York.
