Haley Joel Osment has signed on to star in film adaptation of Steven Niles' graphic novels WAKE THE DEAD, which brings the Frankenstein tale to modern times, reports Variety. Osment will play college student Victor Franklin, who attempts to bring the dead back to life.

Jay Russell (WATER HORSE) will direct from his script penned with Jim Hart. Slash of Guns 'n' Roses fame will produce alongside Michael Williams and Rob Eric. Shaun Redick and Ray Mansfield are the exec producers.

Filming is set to begin in the fall.
