Anthony Mackie (THE HURT LOCKER) has joined the cast of Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's GANGSTER SQUAD, reports Variety. He joins Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Michael Pena.

Mackie is up for the role of former LAPD officer Rocky Washington. The story follows the special unit set up to stop gangster Mickey Cohen (Penn) from bringing East Coast crime to the West Coast.

Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) is directing. Former cop turned screenwriter Will Beall is adapting a script from Paul Lieberman's L.A. Times series. Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick are the producers alongside co-producer Jon Silk.
