Ruth Wilson, who turned heads in the 2006 Masterpiece Theatre miniseries JANE EYRE and the BBC series LUTHER, is in talks to take the lead in Disney's LONE RANGER, reports Deadline.com. She would star opposite Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp.

The story follows nearly dead Texas Ranger who is save by Comanche Tonto, who trains the former lawman to be a masked avenger.

Gore Verbinski (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN) is directing. Justin Haythe, Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio penned the screenplay. Jerry Bruckheimer is the producer.

Production is set to start late this year. The Western will arrive in theaters on Dec. 21, 2012.
