Guillermo del Toro has selected Idris Elba (THOR) to play the lead character in PACIFIC RIM, reports Deadline.com. He will play Sensi opposite Charlie Hunnam (TV's SONS OF ANARCHY). His role was originally designed for Tom Cruise to play. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing the Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. sci-fi production. Filming will start in November.
