Ice Cube is in talks to take the role of Captain Dickson in the theatrical revamp of 21 JUMP STREET, reports Variety. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum star as cops who go undercover in high schools and colleges. The acting duo are also exec producing.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (CLOUDY WITH THE CHANCE OF MEATBALLS) are directing from script by Michael Bacall. Neal H. Moritz is the producer. The original series creator Stephen J. Cannell will receive a posthumous producing credit. Hannah Minghella and Jonathan Kadin are shepherding for Sony.

Production will begin in late April.
