Jessica Chastain, who has become the breakout star of 2011 with great performances in THE TREE OF LIFE, THE HELP and THE DEBT, has landed a plum role in TRON LEGACY director Joseph Kosinski's next film, reports Heat Vision. She will star opposite Tom Cruise, who plays a soldier sent from the cloud cities over Earth to the surface where he encounters a strange woman who challenges his perspective of the world. Chastain will play Cruise's wife in the cloud city.

Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Barry Levine are the producers alongside exec producers Jesse Berger and Dave Morrison. Peter Cramer and Sara Scott are shepherding for Universal.

The sci-fi has gone by the titles OBLIVION and HORIZONS.
