Twitch.com is reporting that Mandate is eyeing THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO star Rooney Mara for the female lead in its remake of OLDBOY. Josh Brolin has already been cast in as the man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years without knowing why. As suddenly as he was taken he is released and he sets out on a bloody journey to find answers. Christian Bale is being courted as the bad guy.

Spike Lee is directing from a script by Mark Protosevich (I AM LEGEND). Doug Davison and Roy Lee are the producers.
