Don Johnson (MIAMI VICE) has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's DJANGO UNCHAINED, reports Variety.

The film follows freed slave Django (Jamie Foxx) as he trains with a German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) in order to save his wife Broomhilda from sadistic plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Johnson, who originally didn't feel the film was right for him, has now agreed to play a rich plantation owner that Django and Schultz encounter on their way.

The cast also includes Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson, Dennis Christopher, Laura Cayouette and Gerald McRaney. Stacey Sher, Pilar Savone and Reginald Hudlin are the producers alongside exec producers Harvey Weinstein, Michael Shamberg and Jim Skotchdopole.

The Weinstein Company will handle the U.S. release, while Sony Pictures holds the international rights. The film will break into theaters on Dec. 25, 2012.
