Djimon Hounsou has been cast as Abdiel, the angel of death, Legendary Pictures' PARADISE LOST, reports Variety. He joins Bradley Cooper and Ben Walker in the Alex Proyas directed film.

Based on John Milton's poem, Lucifer (Cooper) wages war against all things good after God casts him out of heaven.

Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi penned the first draft with revamps coming from Stuart Hazeldine, Lawrence Kasdan and Ryan Condal. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, and Vincent Newman are the producers.

Filming will take place in Sydney in January. Warner Bros. hopes to release the film in Q4 2013.
