Willem Dafoe is in talks and Rob Kazinsky has signed onto Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM, reports Variety. Dafoe would play a rebellious alien creature scientist. British actor Kazinsky takes the role of one of the team members fighting the alien invaders. The cast already includes Charlie Hunnan, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Max Martini.

After an alien invasion, humans come together and use mecha to fight back.

Travis Beacham is writing the Legendary Pictures production. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are the producers.

Filming will start this fall.
