Bryan Cranston (TV's BREAKING BAD) is in talks to board GANGSTER SQUAD, reports Variety. He would join Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Michael Pena and Anthony Mackie.

Cranston would play ambitious officer Max Kennard. The story follows the special unit set up to stop gangster Mickey Cohen (Penn) from bringing East Coast crime to the West Coast.

Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) is directing. Former cop turned screenwriter Will Beall is adapting a script from Paul Lieberman's L.A. Times series. Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick are the producers alongside co-producer Jon Silk.
