Conchords' McKenzie Returning to Middle Earth

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS' Bret McKenzie, who had a small role in the LORD OF THE RINGS series, will be returning to the world of Middle Earth in Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT, reports Variety. Fans named his RINGS character Figwit, but in the new film he will be play an elf named Lindir.

He joins Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett.

J.R.R. Tolkien's novel will be transformed into two 3-D films. Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Jackson adapted the scripts.

Jackson, Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham are the producers. Boyens is the co-producer alongside exec producers Ken Kamins and Zane Weiner.
