Deadline.com has more casting rumors for Marvel Studios' THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA. Now G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA star Channing Tatum is in line for the title role. Other names still in the mix include Chris Evans (FANTASTIC FOUR), Mike Vogel (CLOVERFIELD), Garrett Hedlund (TRON LEGACY) and Wilson Bethel (GENERATION KILL).

Deadline.com also has the actresses approached to play the female lead Peggy. Keira Knightley (PRIDE & PREJUDICE), Alice Eve (SHE'S OUT OF MY LEAGUE) and Emily Blunt (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA). Marvel likes Blunt best, having wanted her for Black Widow in IRON MAN 2, but lost her to Fox's GULLIVER'S TRAVELS. If she lands the role it would reunite her with her WOLFMAN director Joe Johnston.
