Bill Nighy (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN) is in talks to play the villain in I, FRANKENSTEIN, reports Variety. He would star opposite Aaron Eckhart and Socratis Otto.

Stuart Beattie, the writer of G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, wrote and will direct the feature based on Kevin Grevioux's book. The modern day tale finds Frankenstein's monster still alive and is hunted by demons that want to reanimate corpses.

Lakeshore's Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Richard Wright and Hopscotch's Andrew Mason are the producers. Grievoux and Hopscotch's Troy Lum are the exec producers. Michael Paseornek is shepherding for Lionsgate.

Filming is set to begin in January in Australia. Lionsgate plans to release the film on Feb. 22, 2013.
