BEASTLY star Alex Pettyfer is in negotiations to take the lead in DreamWorks’ I AM NUMBER FOUR, VARIETY reports. DISTURBIA’s D.J. Caruso is directing with Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg producing.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar adapted James Frey and Jobie Hughes’ book, which set to hit stores this fall. The plot follows nine aliens who go undercover as teenagers on Earth who are being hunted by the beings that destroyed their world.

David Valdes, Chris Bender and J.C. Spink are the exec producers.
