Bryan Singer is preparing screen tests in London for his JACK THE GIANT KILLER, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As rumored before, the leading contenders for the title role include Aaron Johnson (KICK-ASS) and Nicholas Hoult (A SINGLE MAN and the upcoming X-MEN: FIRST CLASS). The newest name added to the list is Aneurin Barnard (IRONCLAD). Jamie Campbell Bower (SWEENEY TODD) had to drop out of the running after breaking his ankle.

On the actress front, the role of the princess is between Adelaide Kane (POWER RANGERS RPM), Lily Collins (upcoming PRIEST) and Juno Temple (YEAR ONE).

Christopher McQuarrie penned the most recent version of the script, which follows a young farmer who leads a team into giant country to save a kidnapped princess. New Line and Legendary Pictures are producing.

Production is set to begin in March.
