Screen tests have begun for Timur Bekmambetov's screen version of ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, reports Deadline.com. The actors in the running for the title role include Benjamin Walker (FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS), James D'Arcy (EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING), Adrien Brody (THE PIANIST), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (FASTER) and Josh Lucas (HULK).

20th Century Fox has set June 22, 2012 for the 3-D film's release. Bekmambetov, Tim Burton, and Jim Lemley are producing. The original novel's author Seth Grahame-Smith adapted the script.

The story follows Abraham Lincoln and his secret war against vampires after one killed his mother. Turns out Southern slave owners are protecting the bloodsuckers.
