Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi have been cast in 47 RONIN, which stars Keanu Reeves, reports Variety. Based on the Japanese legend, the story follows 47 ronins who set out to avenge the death of their master who was killed by an evil overlord.

Sanada was the solemn warrior in THE LAST SAMURAI and played Dogen on LOST. Shibasaki appeared in the cult classic BATTLE ROYALE and original ONE MISSED CALL. Asano has been a cult film staple, acting in such films as ICHI THE KILLER and THE BLIND SWORDSMAN: ZATOICHI and will next be seen in THOR and BATTLESHIP. Kikuchi is best known for her Oscar nominated performance in BABEL.

First-time feature director Carl Rinsch is helming. Chris Morgan and Hossein Amini wrote the screenplay. Scott Stuber, Pamela Abdy and Eric McLeod are the producers.

Universal plans to release the 3-D film on Nov. 11, 2012.
