London, UK. – Absolute  announced that award-winning colourist Matt Turner has joined the VFX studio’s London office as Colourist and head of the newly-established grading department, effective immediately.  In this new position, Turner will spearhead the integration of the agency’s new grading suite and oversee specialized talent development at Absolute Post, reporting to CEO David Smith.

“Matt Turner joining Absolute Post is the final piece of the puzzle, completing Absolute’s transformation into a one-of-a-kind, full-service facility providing clients with a complete beginning to end post production experience,” said Andy Barmer, Absolute Post Managing Director. “Matt brings a wealth of technical and creative experience to complement the well-rounded group of artists already working at Absolute.”

Previously, Turner was in Los Angeles as Senior Colourist at COMPANY 3, working on high profile projects across agency clients including Superbowl spots for Bridgestone Tires, Coke Zero, Travelers Insurance and Kia.

“We have a dedicated roto artist working in-house alongside Matt, contributing an essential part of the process and enabling us to provide clients with a unique - all under one roof - approach found nowhere else in Soho,” said Smith.

Prior to moving to the U.S., Turner had a stellar five-year run at Framestore London, where he served as Senior Colourist, and he spent nine years at The Mill in London.  Throughout his career, Turner has worked with many of the top commercial directors in Europe, including Daniel Kleinman, Peter Thwaites, Ringan Ledwidge, Fredrik Bond, Frank Budgen and Daniel Barber, on award-winning ads for international brands such as Guinness, Monster.Com, Nissan, Sony PlayStation and Vodafone.

“I’ve known Dave Smith since early in my career, and it has been a personal ambition of mine to work together again,” said Turner. “I’m extremely excited to be among old friends and collaborating with a strong, talented team.  The new grading suite is such a perfect offering to round out the exceptional work that Absolute does.”
