J.J. Abrams has committed to directing STAR TREK 2, reports Vulture. Pre-production has begun and shooting is set to begin in the winter. Alex Kurtzman, having completed his directing debut WELCOME TO PEOPLE, is now free to work with Roberto Orci to put the finishing touches on the script, which was holding up the project. Paramount Pictures had set the film for a June 2012 release, but the delays spurred the studio to give the date to G.I. JOE: RETALIATION.
