Aardman, NFTS & Creative Skillset Launch 2015 Animation Course

Studio demonstrates ongoing commitment to develop homegrown industry talent with Aardman Academy.

BRISTOL -- Aardman Academy, the training arm to the Aardman animation studio announced that their annual Certificate in Character Animation course for 2015 has begun. A selection of talented and enthusiastic new students are being trained to meet the growing demand for animators in the UK.

The course kicked off last month with Jon Wardle welcoming students to the NFTS student community and Aardman Co-founder and Executive Chairman, David Sproxton, Head of Animation Loyd Price and CG tutor Inez Woldman welcoming the students to the studios.

Small class sizes mean that the students are getting 1:1 attention and support from the Academy tutors and enjoy access to the Aardman studios working environment. This bespoke course aims to prepare students for industry standard character animating, training high standard practitioners for the animation production sector.

The students’ schedule, designed and delivered by Aardman’s film making experts, is supported by an array of masterclasses and workshops. Animator, Richard Williams delivered a masterclass to the students last week.  Additional sessions by industry professionals, from BlueZoo, Locksmith, DNeg, Turner, Travellers Tales, and Factory Transmedia, are all scheduled over the coming weeks. Thanks to the ongoing funding from the Creative Skillset Skills Investment Fund, Aardman Academy are able to facilitate industry internships for students completing the course with some of the above production facilities and a range of other well-known UK companies.
