WIAs Production Management Group (PMG) presented a discussion on scripts, show bibles and development. Attendees learned what there is to know after a project is acquired and before its greenlit. Guests brought their work which was workshopped with other professionals. The discussion took place at Nickelodeon Studios. The cost was US$5 for Members and $20 for Non-members. The Third Brisbane International Animation Festival represents Australia in an international animation festival alliance with Ottawa, Holland, Fantoche and Anima Mundi. It is Australia's only festival dedicated exclusively to animation in all of its forms. Playing host to national and international guests who gathered in Brisbane, Australia, to experience the best of world class animation, the festival provided a local, national and international forum for the appreciation of the art and diversity of animation. Programming included an International Competition, National Commercials Competition, Retrospectives, Gay and Lesbian Themes in Animation, Seminars, Late Night Features and Children's Components. Stop-motion master, Ray Harryhausen opened the Festival as guest of honor. The Festival tours from Brisbane to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, Perth, Cairns, Canberra, Hobart and other major regional centers. After their successful first run, the 2nd Annual Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival held their upcoming International Competition which featured 14 short films and the screening of fifty additional selections. Chapman University's Film School presented a special screening of Kirikou And The Sorceress. Dr. Maureen Furniss (author of Art In Motion: Animation Aesthetics, and founding editor of the Animation Journal) spoke briefly before the screening of the film. The film was the original French version, with English subtitles. The showing was free to the public.
