(continued from People page 1)Musical Chairs: AtomFilms has announced that Eric Calderon has joined the company as Animation and Digital Media Development Executive and Richard Barton has joined their board of directors. Before moving to AtomFilms, Calderon was the former Director of Animation Development at MTV. Calderon will be in charge of recruiting and developing animation and digital media talent, content and technologies. At MTV, Calderon oversaw MTV animation series such as: Cartoon Sushi, Celebrity Deathmatch, Daria, Downtown, and the upcoming SPYGROOVE. Barton comes to AtomFilms as the president and CEO of Expedia, Inc., a leading on-line travel company. Barton joins a board of directors which includes: Frank Biondi Jr., former Chairman and CEO of Universal Studios; Mark Torrance, Vice-Chairman of Getty Images, Inc.; and Thomas Hoegh, Founder and Managing Director of Arts Alliance. Barton will help AtomFilms' optimize its distribution of digital entertainment and e-commerce. This announcement comes along with the recent hiring of John Marom, former President of Time Inc. International, as the Seattle-based Internet company's senior VP of worldwide revenue and media strategies. . . .Ivan Molomut has joined Black Logic, a design and animation house, as head of sales. Molomut's firm Ivan and Company, which he established in 1997, to market traditional film production, cel animation, CGI, visual effects, editors and music houses, to advertising agencies and clients, has represented Black Logic for the past two years. In 1991, Molomut formed Velocity Film, a bi-coastal production company. As president, head of sales and marketing and executive producer, he represented directors to ad agencies, while executive producing projects. In 1995, Velocity Film merged with Harmony Pictures, and Molomut continued to manage the east coast operation. . . .Acclaim Entertainment Inc., a leading worldwide interactive entertainment company, announced that Nigel Cook has been promoted to vice president, studio head of Acclaim Studio Austin. Cook will oversee the management of the Austin facility, including product releases, personnel development and process improvement. Previously, Cook was VP of product development and design at Acclaim. In this position, he oversaw creative development and design at all Acclaim Studios. Cook was responsible for developing many of Acclaim's key titles such as: Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion; Turok - Rage Wars; Turok 2 - Seeds Of Evil; Turok Dinosaur Hunter; Armorines; Shadow Man; Re-Volt; South Park Chef's Luv Shack; South Park; Forsaken; NFL Quarterback Club; and All-Star Baseball. Cook also helped develop internal game ideas, concepts, treatments and full-designs. Earlier, Cook was executive creative director at the Austin Studio. Before Acclaim, Cook worked at Iguana Entertainment, where he began as a game designer, and was promoted to creative director and later on to project manager. . . . Two months before the World Animation Celebration opens, festival director Tracy Crossley has left "to pursue other interests." WAC has appointed a new director Danielle Robertson. "The team we have assembled to produce this years event has an incredible amount of festival experience and has banded together to produce a memorable experience for everyone involved," said Robertson. "We appreciate the contributions Tracy had made and wish her the very best in all her future endeavors.". . .Digital Entertainment Network, Inc. (DEN), an on-line network targeting Generation Y, announced the appointment of Morris Sim as head of digital programming. Formerly with Microsoft, Sim held a variety of top-level managerial positions, supervising entire teams of programmers and designers for Microsoft's extensive line of consumer software. During his seven-year tour-of-duty, Sim was a key player in the development and design of some of Microsoft's top software products, like Access, VisualFoxPro, Visual Basic, Microsoft Works, Home Suite and Microsoft Office. In 1992, Sim helped design the software feature, Wizards, providing a more user-friendly interface for end-users. Prior to working as a program manager, Sim worked as a marketer for Microsoft's first Windows database product. In September 1998, Sim left Microsoft to direct and produce a feature film for GoMo Entertainment, entitled The Disk-O-Boyz, a coming-of-age story about five guys growing up while members of a popular rock band. . . . MixMe Networks, Inc., a developer of media technologies supporting dynamic, interactive e-marketing tools and interactive greetings, announced the appointment of Russell T. Gillam as the company's new CEO. Gillam is an Internet pioneer coming to MixMe Networks, Inc. from Disney Direct where he served as senior VP of commerce. Gillam was responsible for all the Internet initiatives of Disney properties. There he led a staff of over 1,000 people across the e-commerce units including Disney, ABC, ESPN and Go.com. At Disney, Gillam also served as general manager of the Disney Store On-line, vice president of e-commerce/Buena Vista Internet group, and senior vice president, general manager of Disney Direct. Specific highlights of Gillam's Disney career include launching the Disney Store On-line, shaping the overall e-commerce strategy for Buena Vista Internet Group (the central umbrella organization for all Internet operations including Disney Studios, ABC and ESPN), as well as reorganizing the company's catalog operation. Prior to joining Disney, Gillam worked at Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Big Dog Sportswear where he was director of mail order. . . .
