ANIMATION WORLD MAGAZINE - ISSUE 4.12 - MARCH 2000

Voice Acting and Music & Sound,
April 2000

This month we are taking a look at the sound that accompanies the art of animation. Michael Lyons is going to profile the two-time Academy award winning duo, the Sherman Brothers, who are responsible for the songs and music in such classics as Mary Poppins. Andrew Osmond is going to profile Joe Hisaishi, the man who has scored all six of Hayao Miyazaki's major films, including Princess Mononoke. We are also going to meet the team behind the music and song for DreamWorks' The Road to El Dorado and learn how they brought their experience to animation and married it to the moving image. We are also going to meet voice-over legend Frank Welker, and Laura Schiff is discussing with the experts what to look for in a voice acting workshop. You are going to want to read this before signing up! We are also going to provide a list of voice-over resources -- workshops, organizations and places to turn for leads will all be included.

Our area of focus will be Vancouver. While Disney may be leaving town, Vancouver remains an animation hot spot. Continuing her Internet company profiles, Lee Dannacher will give us the inside scoop on Shockwave and all their high profile deals. Jackie Kubin kicks off her monthly gaming column with an interview with David Kirk, whose world of Miss Spider is coming to CD-rom. Glenn Vilppu is back with another instructional installment and we also have book and event reviews from around the world!
