Motion Capture and Stop Motion
February, 2000February is our annual motion capture and stop motion issue. We have plenty in store as usual. Sharon Schatz will interview Brian Nilles of leading motion capture technology firm, Vicon 8. Gregory Singer will go behind the scenes on one of the many projects which uses Vicon's technology, while Laura Schiff will introduce us to Webbie Tookay, a new motion capture personality. On the stop motion side of things, Wendy Jackson is going to cover Aardman Animations' current high flying times as they work like mad on Chicken Run and bask in a four picture deal with DreamWorks. We will also check in on Henry Selick's new film Monkey Bone and interview Ray Harryhausen.
In other stories we will remember Art Scott, a man that held significant positions at a number of Hollywood studios from Disney to Bob Clampett Productions. Jayanti Sen will also follow up with more information regarding the current animation scene in India and we'll be treated to another lesson from master artist Glenn Vilppu. Maureen Furniss will return with "Fresh From the Festivals" and Karl Cohen will take a closer look at those Spike and Mike festivals. Two books will also be reviewed: Europe's Influence on Disney and CG 101.
