Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival Calls For Entries. This festival will be held in the bars and clubs of London's Soho from July 24 - 30. Categories include a Best Animation Award. Action Calls For Entries. Action's New Independent Talents Contest is aimed at the independent 3D artist. Prizes include hardware and software, as well as transfers to 35 mm film so that films may be shown in movie theaters. There is no entry fee. Deadline for entries is October 10, 1999. Ulisses Call For Entries. The first annual International Children's Film and Television Festival is now accepting entries. The only festival for children in Portugal will screen films from around the world in the following categories: Feature Film, Short Film, Television Series, Television Magazine, Documentary, Animated Feature, Animated TV Series and Animated Short. The festival, helmed by former Los Angeles-based World Animation Celebration director, Leslie Sullivan, will be held October 19-25, 1999. Eighty thousand (80,000) seats in theatres throughout Lisbon will be filled by school age children viewing films from around the globe. Deadline for submissions for pre-selection is June 15, 1999. Films will be shown in the following formats: 35mm, 16mm, Beta Pal, Beta NTSC or Secam. Pre-Selection tapes should be submitted on VHS (Pal or NTSC). For entry forms and guidelines, contact:

The Annies Call For Entries. Each year, Annie Award trophies are awarded for the year's best feature film, video, television program, commercial, and animated interactive production, as well as individual achievement by artists, writers and voice talent. The most prestigious awards given at the annual award ceremonies are the June Foray award, presented for special service to the artform, and the Winsor McCay award for a lifetime of achievement in animation. The 27th Annual Annie Awards ceremony will take place Saturday, November 6, 1999 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA.
