Pocahontas II In A Store Near You. On August 25, Walt Disney Home Video released Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World, the direct-to-video sequel to Disney's 33rd theatrical animated feature film, Pocahontas. The film was produced at Walt Disney Animation Canada and Walt Disney Animation Japan, and directed by Bradley Raymond and Tom Ellery. Additional animation was done by Spaff Animation in Burbank, California. The voice cast features Jean Stapleton, Billy Zane, David Ogden Stiers and Linda Hunt. Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World runs 72 minutes, and is being offered for U.S. $26.99 (SRP).

Black Cauldron Bubbles Up.
Walt Disney Home Video released Disney's 25th animated feature, The Black Cauldron (1985) on video for the first time on August 4. The 80-minute film was co-directed by Ted Berman and Richard Rich, during a period of minimal success for Disney's animated features. It is the second Disney feature to be filmed in 70mm format, after Sleeping Beauty. The video is priced at $26.99 (SRP).

Harvey To Turn Out 12 Pics In 3 Years. Harvey Entertainment has launched a new business plan which intends to produce 12 direct-to-video products over the next three years, commencing in 1999. The company has two animated videos coming out before then; Casper Meets Wendy and Richie Rich's Christmas Wish will debut this fall. Additional Harvey characters which can be exploited include Baby Huey, Little Audrey and Hot Stuff. Many of these characters will be featured in Classic Harvey Toons, an animated series comprised of Harvey's library cartoons, on the new Fox Family channel launching this month.
