March 1999, Production Technology
The March issue of Animation World Magazine will focus on Production Technology, and touch upon Animation Art. Milt Vallas will detail the production technology being used by television production companies in Asia and Judith Rubin will discuss large screen formats -- the next great frontier for animated fare. Plus, the dangers of digital video noise reduction technology will be outlined by Amid Amidi. Also we will hear from some of the industry's hottest digital animation companies and people to learn how they do those show-stopping effects. The high-tech companies of Montreal and Toronto will also be profiled by Emru Townsend. On the animation art side of things, animation art gallery owners will tell us what is selling like hot cakes.
The Welsh Film and Television Archives will be featured and NATPE and Toy Fair will be reviewed. Terrence Briggs will also take a swing at the new shows on television from FOX's newest animated entry, Family Guy, to HBO's A Little Curious. Dr. William Moritz takes on Otto Alder's film The Spirit of Genius, a documentary on the Russian master Fedor Khitruk. Book reviews will include: Animation Tips & Tricks for Windows and Mac, Inside Lightwave, The Little Black Book of Visual Effects, Cartoon Charlie and A Bug's Life: The Art and Making of an Epic of Miniature Proportions. In addition, for everyone out there wanting to build their own web pages, we will be reviewing Macromedia Dreamweaver 2.
