It contains 12 groundbreaking digital animations, voted on the first ranks by the international audience of the Bitfilm Festival -- including all six winners of the Bitfilm Awards. The Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences (AMAS) has opened the call for submissions for the 2008 Machinima Film Festival, which will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Eyebeam, a multi-disciplinary art and technology center in New York City. Filmmakers interested in submitting their work for the 2008 Machinima Awards ("The Mackies") should do so by Friday, Sept. 12.

The Internet audience has made its decision after two months, and the Bitfilm Festival Awards are official. Ninety-one films from 25 countries competed for Bitfilm Awards in six categories. More than 130,000 people from 146 countries visited the Bitfilm Festival online.

Bitfilm Voting Close To The Finals

For one more week, the worldwide online community has the chance to cast their votes to decide upon the winners of the Bitfilm Festival. The online voting runs until July 1, 2008 at www.bitfilm.com/festival. 91 films compete in six categories for the Bitfilm Awards. On July 9 the winners will be disclosed at the Bitfilm Award Show held at Planetarium Hamburg. The prize money, donated by the Hamburg Cultural Authority, totals 10,000 Euros.

CSI: NY Virtual World Killer Wrapped Up By Electric Sheep

CBS drama CSI: NY and the Electric Sheep Company partnered to wrap up the Virtual World killer plot line in recent episode "DOA for a Day."

The first part of the episode titled, "Down The Rabbit Hole" originally aired, Wednesday, October 24.

In "DOA for a Day" the CSI's, working with an anonymous tip, travel to an abandoned warehouse and back into the virtual 3D computer world where they hope to find one of the city's most-wanted criminals.

BloodSpell Animation Web Series Spawns Feature Film

In 2006, Web animation viewers watched as beautiful swordswomen battled on a pyrotechnic chessboard. A gladiator with a steam-powered arm fled an army of wraiths. A sorcerer and an angel fought atop a cliff overlooking a fantasy city.

This was BLOODSPELL, the animated epic released online last year and downloaded by more than 100,000 visitors worldwide. Now, the "punk fantasy" has spawned an 84-minute feature film.

The 8th Int'l Bitfilm Festival for Digital Film has ended with an award ceremony in Barcelona. The Grand Prix TV Digital went to Zack Snyder's 300. The T-Home 3D Space Award was bestowed on Blur Studios' A GENTLEMEN'S DUEL, directed by Francisco Ruiz and Sean McNally.

The Autodesk FX Mix Awards went to FISSION by Kun-I Chang while the MTV Flash Award was given to THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES, directed by JiHyun Ahn. Phix's I'M ONLY SLEEPING won the Gee Machinima Award with the Hamburg 4 Micromovie Award going to Michael Reissinger's VW PHAETON GALAXY SHOW.
