New Broadcasters For Zorro: Generation Z

BKN announced that several additional broadcasters have acquired the TV rights to its ZORRO: GENERATION Z property.

Telecinco and Clan TV/TVE in Spain, POP Channel in the U.K., ATV in Hong Kong, Star TV in Greece, SABC in South Africa, Solimac in Malaysia and TV7 in Bulgaria, have all signed up for this animated series (26x22) aimed at boys and girls ages 6 to 12.

MGM Lion Roars into Licensing Show 2008

The MGM lion is roaring into Licensing 2008 International as MGM Consumer Products welcomes new entertainment properties and reinvents classics from the studio's illustrious film and TV library.

MGM Consumer Products will feature new incarnations of the PINK PANTHER franchise in advance of the February 2009 theatrical release of THE PINK PANTHER 2, which will feature an all-star cast: Steve Martin, Jean Reno, and Emily Mortimer, John Cleese, Andy Garcia, Alfred Molina, Aishwarya Rai and Molly Simms.

Studio B Inks Deal With Jetix For Kid vs. Cat

Studio B Productions, a production subsidiary for DHX Media, has closed a U.S. broadcast deal for KID VS. KAT. Jetix has acquired all (52x11 or 26x22) episodes of the series. Created by Rob Boutilier, the series is an original production, in association YTV Canada and Jetix Europe.

Chinese Blockbuster Headed To U.K.

Jet Li-led THE WARLORDS has been picked up for U.K. distribution by indie Metrodome Distribution, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

The vfx-heavy Chinese adventure film, with Takeshi Kaneshiro and Andy Lau cost $40 million-plus to make, but has already reaped that much just in China.

Tom Stewart, general manager for home entertainment for Metrodome handled the deal, along with acquisitions and business affairs manager Kate Edwards, CEO Peter Urie and by Wayne Duband Consulting for Applause Pictures and Media Asia out of Hong Kong.

Three New Shows For Germany's ZDF

Within the scope of the existing long-term framework contract, EM.Entertainment has concluded an agreement with German public broadcaster ZDF, committing to three new animation series.

The agreement includes the 3D animated preschool series ZIGBY -- based on HarperCollinsChildren's Books' wildly popular literary character Zigby, the 'zebra who trots into trouble'.

The story centers on the adventures of Zigby, who has a lively imagination and comes up with offbeat ideas -- getting him and his and his friends in trouble.

EA And Epic Expand License Agreement

Electronic Arts and Epic Games will expand their current license agreement, the companies announced Tuesday.

Under the terms of the new agreement, EA will have the right to incorporate the UNREAL ENGINE 3 in more than five upcoming titles currently under development. EA's original UNREAL ENGINE 3 license agreement was signed in 2006; new agreement reflects EA's confidence in the UNREAL ENGINE by providing EA development teams with industry-leading tools and technologies to best serve the needs of each game.

Entertainment Rights And Transformers Taking Over

Entertainment Rights announced it has secured further significant broadcast agreements for the new TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED series (26x22) plus a 70-minute special episode.

Before MIPTV, the company has secured broadcast agreements in more than 80 territories including: Mediaset (Italy), Turner Broadcasting (Australia, Latin America and India), Jetix (Israel, Netherlands and Belgium), Network 10 (Australia), TV3 (New Zealand), Mediacorp TV12 (Singapore) and TV Globo (Brazil).

Amberwood Productions announced it has concluded a co-production agreement with Belgium's Studio100 on a new animated series, SUPER MEGA HYPER PETS.

Produced entirely in HD, the 2D digitally animated action comedy series of 26 half hour episodes (52x11) is targeted at 4 to 6 year olds.

Zinkia Licenses Pocoyo To Mexico

POCOYO is powering his way through Latin America. The little blue chap, who stars in the multi-award winning pre-school series, has secured himself quality air time, lots of shelf space and a high profile, following a major TV and licensing deal inked Tuesday in Cannes, by Zinkia (Spain) and Mexican media company Grupo Televisa.

Zinkia has partnered with leading Latin American broadcaster Televisa, who will handle all TV and licensing rights for POCOYO in Mexico. The CG animated series will debut this summer on Televisa.

EM Ent. And Comarex Extend Partnership

Within the terms of a new distribution contract, EM.Entertainment has extended its existing partnership with Comarex, a global distribution company. The relationship, which began in 2001, has been extended until 2011.

The agreement encompasses exclusive distribution rights within the TV and home entertainment sectors, as well as non-exclusive rights in merchandising on the Latin American market. In addition, Comarex will distribute Spanish-language versions of EM.Entertainment programs within the U.S. on a non-exclusive basis.

PorchLight Home Entertainment has acquired the U.S. DVD distribution rights to the award-winning television program 64 ZOO LANE from Millimages U.K.

Disney And CTC Media Conclude Licensing Deal

CTC Media, Russia's leading independent media company, has concluded a major, multi-year licensing agreement with The Walt Disney Company's international TV licensing arm, Disney-ABC International Television.

This agreement covers the licensing of features, live action series, animated series and made-for-TV movies for the CTC television network. The CTC Network -- the flagship of CTC Media -- is the fourth-most watched broadcaster in Russia with an average audience share of 11.3% in its wide target demographic (everyone aged 6-54) in 2007.

HIT Entertainment announced a strategic distribution and co-production agreement with Smartoonz, a division of Zeppelin Animation to distribute and sell three of its pre-school television shows around the world.

Disney Channel programmers from North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific have joined forces to acquire global rights for the stop-motion animated series TIMMY from the acclaimed UK production company Aardman Animations (WALLACE & GROMIT).

Lionsgate Jumps Into Agreement With LeapFrog

Lionsgate has entered into an agreement with LeapFrog Enterprises, a leading developer of technology-based learning products, and rights holder and producer Chris D'Angelo, to develop, produce and distribute multiple direct-to-DVD feature films.

The deal was negotiated for Lionsgate by Executive VP of Marketing and Family Entertainment Anne Parducci and Wendy Jaffe, Executive Vice President Legal and Business Affairs, Acquisitions and Co-Productions.
