Most Popular Stamp Series of All Time Makes Final Curtain Call

Although Elvis remains king as the single most popular stamp subject of all time with an estimated 124.1 million collected, Mickey Mouse and his friends rule as the most popular stamp series with 211.5 million collected.

Originally scheduled to be introduced as three sets during a three-year period, the fifth and final debut for the Art of Disney series took place Thursday in front of the Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland when the Postal Service dedicated the Art of Disney: Imagination stamps. The 42-cent first-class commemorative stamps are now on sale.

Kabillion's Olympic-Themed Programming Kicks Off With Underdog

Kids entertainment service Kabillion has obtained the classic 1960s animated TV series UNDERDOG, debuting it on both the VOD and online platforms beginning August 7. The premiere also kicks off Kabillion's series of Olympics-themed programming for August, featuring special episodes of BOBBY'S WORLD, CODE LYOKO, PET ALIEN, MIX MASTER and the Emmy Award-winning series I GOT A ROCKET.

Sanrio Goes Green With PlanetPals

Sanrio Far East, a company of Sanrio Group, has added PLANETPALS to their portfolio that includes properties such as SPONGE BOB SQUAREPANTS and DORA THE EXPLORER.

PLANETPALS has entered into an agreement with the licensing group, to exclusively represent PLANETPALS in Japan.

Sanrio F.E. will introduce PLANETPALS characters to the preschool and elementary market and plans to establish a multi-platform presence in Japan as well as develop strategic partnerships with appropriate companies. They will also manage local key partnerships.

Playhouse Disney U.K. has acquired a new U.K. preschool animation series, CLAUDE, scheduled to air later this year. The series is being produced by U.K. production companies Dot To Dot and Red and Blue Productions.

Lionsgate To Distribute Wolverine & The X-Men

Lionsgate has acquired the home entertainment distribution rights to WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN, a new animated series from Marvel Ent, extending the current relationship between the two companies.

Lionsgate will retain the United States home distribution rights to all 26 half-hour episodes of WOLVERINE & THE X-MEN,(a co-production with Toonz Ent., Singapore and First Serve International), scheduled to air on Nicktoons Network beginning in January 2009.

KidsCo Now Part Of Spanish Pay TV Platform

KidsCo, the joint venture channel owned by media companies NBC Universal, Cookie Jar and Corus Ent., is to become part of the Spanish pay-TV platform, IMAGENIO, following an agreement with local content provider, Teuve.

The new distribution agreement will see KidsCo’s children’s channel available as part of IMAGENIO’s family package as channel 55.

The agreement will see KidsCo’s premier children’s and family programming available via the pay TV channel with immediate effect.

Xilam Signs Slate Of East European Deals

French animation studio Xilam has notched up a stack of eastern European sales following last month's DISCOP market.

Top favorite with the eastern European buyers is Xilam's slapstick comedy featuring a fat blue cat and three ugly cockroaches, OGGY AND THE COCKROACHES (200x7 or 65x30).

On the TV front, new deals have been signed by LNK TV, Lithuania, which has acquired rights for OGGY seasons one, two and three and with VGTRK in Russia, which has picked up seasons two and three.

GoAnimate.com, the Website that enables anyone -- advanced computer skills or not -- to create animations and connect with users from all over the world, has partnered with Entertainment Rights to bring the first licensed content to its website.

Through the deal, GoAnimate.com users will be able to write, create and animate their own UNDERDOG, RICHIE RICH and MR. MAGOO episodes beginning this September.

FUNimation, Geneon Sign Distribution Agreement For North America

FUNimation Ent., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Navarre Corporation, and Geneon Ent., a producer of Japanese animation, have entered into a partnership to distribute select DVD titles in North America.

Under the terms of the agreement, FUNimation Ent. obtains the exclusive rights to the manufacturing, marketing, sales and distribution of established Geneon titles, including international successes ERGO PROXY, HELLSING ULTIMATE and BLACK LAGOON.

FX Ponies Up $47M For Five Fox Films

FX will pay around $47 million for five recent theatrical releases from 20th Century Fox, including DR. SEUSS' HORTON HEARS A WHO! and JUMPER, per VARIETY.

The other titles are WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, 27 DRESSES and MEET THE SPARTANS. FX and Fox declined VARIETY's request for comment.

FX has a four-year license term on the package, getting 27 DRESSES and SPARTANS in mid-2010, JUMPER in fall 2010 and HORTON and VEGAS by November of that year.
