It's full steam ahead for the world's most famous blue engine, Thomas the Tank Engine, as it prepares to make its television debut in China. HIT Ent. has announced that THOMAS & FRIENDS will be broadcast on China's national broadcaster CCTV for four series of the popular preschool show.

Jimmy Two Shoes Takes Top Spot in MIPCOM Jr. Screenings

Jetix Europe's JIMMY TWO SHOES was the most watched entry at this year's MIPCOM Jr. screenings. Out of 1,143 entries, JIMMY TWO SHOES, produced by Breakthrough Ent. for Jetix Europe, was the most requested show by buyers.

Marc Buhaj, SVP of Jetix Europe said, "This is the first time Jetix has achieved top ranking at the screenings. It is testament to a great team who are producing a great show. We're really excited that our new focus on comedy has proven to be so popular with our peers and we're confident our viewers will enjoy Jimmy as much as the industry does."

VIZ Media Showcases Anime For All Ages At MIPCOM

VIZ Media and VIZ Media Europe, the Paris-based subsidiary of VIZ Media, will showcase a variety of hot anime properties at the 2008 MIPCOM show in Cannes, France, October 13-17 at the Palais des Festivals. VIZ Media will be located in Booth A0-12.

VIZ Media is a master licensor of Japanese anime and manga content to a fast growing international audience. The company will offer a diverse selection of animated properties for teens and young adults including BLEACH, DEATH NOTE, BLUE DRAGON, BUSO RENKIN, HUNTER X HUNTER, KILARI and others.

TELETOON Set To Become Home Of Marvel In Canada

TELETOON Canada Inc. and Marvel Animation have entered into a multi-year output deal that sees TELETOON become the home of Marvel Animation in Canada. Beginning in spring 2009, a broad spectrum of Marvel animated series will air on TELETOON networks in both English and French. The agreement sees Marvel deliver a minimum of 182 episodes of first-run animation for broadcast and includes rights for additional platforms including broadband, video-on-demand, mobile and other online opportunities.

Twisted Whiskers Headed To France, U.K.

France's CANAL+ and the U.K.'s CBBC have acquired the broadcast rights to the all-new TWISTED WHISKERS CGI-animated entertainment series. Now in production, TWISTED WHISKERS, targeted to boys and girls 4-12 years old, is scheduled for an early 2009 debut. The series includes 52 ten-minute episodes and 30-second shorts in high-definition.

SESAME STREET ENGLISH, a new broadcast series (26x2) featuring anime style versions of the SESAME STREET Muppets, makes phonics fun. Shelldon To Make qubo A Greener Place

Entertainment Rights has secured a U.S. broadcast partner for the new CGI animated television series, SHELLDON. Through the deal, SHELLDON will be seen on qubo's children's programming block, which currently airs on NBC, Telemundo, and ION TV networks. The 13x30 series, which focuses on environmental themes, targets kids ages 4-8 and is scheduled to premiere in spring 2009.

Aardman Rights Takes Wallace & Gromit, Timmy On International Adventure

Aardman Rights, the newly created division of award-winning Aardman Animations has concluded a number of pre-sales for its two new animated series WALLACE & GROMIT IN A MATTER OF LOAF AND DEATH and TIMMY TIME.

Wallace & Gromit’s new half hour adventure is currently in production for BBC One at Aardman’s Bristol studios with delivery expected this autumn. Decode Engineers Sales For Animal Mechanicals

DECODE Enterprises has made a number of MIPCOM sales for new preschool series, ANIMAL MECHANICALS (40x11), produced by Halifax Film, and commissioned by CBC in Canada, where the series is one of the highest-rating preschool shows.

The Disney Channels in the U.K. and Asia; Radio-Canada, Discovery Latin America, Romania's HOP, EBS in Korea; Al-Jazeera Children Channel have all snapped up the series along with Prava I Prevodi, who acquired the title for Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.

Tricon Claims Sanctuary At MIPCOM

Toronto-based producer and distributor Tricon Films & Television has made further sales of 13x60 science fiction series SANCTUARY at MIPCOM 2008. Entertainment channel AXN has snapped up the series in a deal for Central Europe that includes Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia and in a further deal, Sci Fi Channel Asia has taken the series to air on its channels in more than 25 countries.

Sci Fi Channel, RHI Ent. Bring Thrills, Horrors

Sci Fi Channel and RHI Ent. have entered into a network license agreement for a slate of U.S. premiere television movies.

The deal includes basic cable rights for five new horror and thriller projects. Two of the films have already wrapped production on location in Romania, including HELLHOUNDS, directed by Ricky Schroder (ANDROMEDA STRAIN, 24). Set in 500 B.C., HELLHOUNDS stars Scott Elrod (MEN IN TREES) as a Greek warrior who fights against the demonic hellhounds of Hades in order to rescue his bride (Amanda Brooks, MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL) and bring her back to life.

Interact With The London Underground in Bow Street Runner

Littleloud Animation Studios are presenting BOW STREET RUNNER at MIPCOM, a Web-based interactive drama set in the Georgian London underworld to support Channel 4's CITY OF VICE television series.

The production includes a range of digital techniques including 3D sets, dynamic composition and seamlessly integrated live action footage, producing a unique cinematic experience to the online drama environment. The production cast is lead by the accomplished British actor Julian Glover.

Novel's Horrid Henry Secures New Sales

U.K.-based independent producer Novel Ent. and distribution partner Little Bird Rights have secured more international sales deals for animated property HORRID HENRY in the run up to MIPCOM 2008.

Little Bird has worldwide television rights to the show outside the U.K. and Germany and has recently secured broadcast deals for the first season of 52x11 with MNet in South Africa, RTP Portugal, Digiturk in Turkey and SVT Sweden. A deal has also been secured with Polish production company Op Art.

CITV And ITV1 UK Pick Up TV-Loonland's animated show Pat&Stan

TV-Loonland has licensed its multi-formatted animated property PAT&STAN to British children's channel CITV.

Selected shorts have also been licensed to ITV1. CITV, owned by U.K. commercial broadcaster ITV, has acquired UK broadcast and online rights for the whole available set of formats; 350 shorts, a half-hour "Treasure Hunt" special as well the brand new 39x7 season set for delivery in spring 2009. The short formats will be premiering on CITV's website very soon as a lead up to the TV launch scheduled for this Christmas.

Amita Of The Jungle Goes To MIPCOM

Lastrego & Testa will present all 26 episodes of its new TV series AMITA OF THE JUNGLE (26x7) in HD, co-produced with RAI Fiction, at MIPCOM.

The project won a nomination to the Pulcinella Awards at Cartoons On the Bay 2008 in the category Best TV Series for Children and it is in competition for the 38th edition of Roshd Festival in Tehran.

Mission To Planet 429 Launches At MIPCOM

WTTW National Productions has partnered with Roman Coppola's Directors Bureau to launch MISSION TO PLANET 429. WTTW National Productions will introduce the new mixed media comedy adventure series for children ages 6-9 at MIPCOM 2008. The property is planned to premiere with 104x11 minute episodes (or 52 half hours) on U.S. public television and in other media platforms and in markets worldwide in 2010.

NCircle and Taffy Expand Relationship

Expanding upon their existing relationship, NCircle Ent. signed a new multi-year DVD brick-and-mortar and online retail distribution agreement with The MoonScoop Group's Taffy Ent. NCircle will assume responsibility for the DVD roll-out of the new children's series CHLOE'S CLOSET in North America. NCircle, a division of Source Interlink Companies, has already begun elevating the North American presence of Taffy's preschool DIVE OLLY DIVE! series since June.
