Starz Media and Vanguard Animation and Film have inked a licensing deal with Dole Food Co. to place 100 million collectable stickers with characters from the upcoming animated feature SPACE CHIMPS on bananas, reports VARIETY. Due to hit theaters in 2008, the film's characters will also make appearances on Dole salad packages and pineapples. The deal also includes a Dole SuperKids website and in-store CHIMPS circulars and displays.
Nickelodeon & Viacom (Nachrichten) Consumer Products (NVCP) showcased plans at Licensing 2007 International to create new merchandise. The Emmy and Peabody-Award winning SOUTH PARK, already a consumer hit on DVD, apparel and footwear will be expanded into new licensing categories. Consumer Products (WBCP) announced that it has named Mattel Inc. as the global master toy licensee for both SPEED RACER and THE DARK KNIGHT, two of the biggest summer films coming out in 2008. VIZ Media Llc. announced at the 2007 Licensing International Expo that Bandai America Inc. has been named as the toy licensee for products based on BLUE DRAGON, a new anime series based on the popular Xbox 360 role playing game. Earlier this year, VIZ Media was named the master licensor for the television, home video and non-videogame merchandising rights for BLUE DRAGON by a consortium, including TV TOKYO Corp. and Shueisha Inc, for the Americas, Europe and Oceania.
