Novel Ent., the independent producer behind hit preschool shows FIMBLES and THE ROLY MO SHOW for CBBC, has appointed Copyright Promotions as its licensing agent for the U.K. and Europe on its new property HORRID HENRY.

In addition, Novel has taken on licensing consultant Caroline Mickler to manage the relationship with Copyright Promotions and to oversee the roll out of the licensing and merchandising program for HORRID HENRY worldwide.

Dora's World Adventure CD in Stores & Online

Nick Records/Sony BMG's Strategic Marketing Group has released the CD, DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE. With fourteen tracks from around the globe, the CD is danceable songs inspired by Dora's travels on the upcoming special DVD release and Nick Jr. special television episode, DORA THE EXPLORER: WORLD ADVENTURE.

Special guests on the album include reggae sensation Ziggy Marley who joins Dora in "Three Little Birds," and Grammy award-winning artist Aaron Neville, who joins Dora in "Iko Iko."

Playmates Toys With The Land Before Time

Universal Studios Consumer Products Group and Playmates Toys announced a domestic licensing agreement, whereby Playmates will serve as the master toy licensee for the upcoming animated television series, THE LAND BEFORE TIME. The 22-minute animated series will air on Cartoon Network beginning spring 2007. The toy line will launch in fall 2007 with the introduction of a full line of figures, vehicles, playsets and plush.

Ben 10 & PowerPuff Girls Slip Into New Apparel Deals

Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), the global branding and merchandising arm of Cartoon Network, has inked new apparel deals for its hit properties, BEN 10 and THE POWERPUFF GIRLS. CNE announced two new licensing agreements with SGFootwear and ODM for BEN 10. Additionally, CNE has partnered with fashion design studio Mighty Fine on a multi-year deal to develop a line of POWERPUFF knit top tops, t-shirts and fleece tops for the juniors and tweens markets.

DC Comic Superheroes Take Flight on U.S. Postal Stamps

The U.S. Postal Service chose the perfect site to launch the DC Super Heroes commemorative postage stamps with a first day of issue ceremony on July 20, 2006 at the San Diego Convention Center during Comic-Con International 2006, the worlds largest comicbook and pop culture show.

Shuriken School Proves A-grade Licensing Property for Xilam & Zinkia

The animated, comedy-action series, SHURIKEN SCHOOL, ahs racked up a host of licensing deals for producers Xilam Animation (France) and Zinkia Ent. (Spain), including a pan-European contract with Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG), as well as Kidz Ent. for Scandinavia and EEMC for eastern Europe.

CPLG, which represents such high profile properties as BRATZ, CARE BEARS and THE SIMPSONS, will handle licensing for SHURIKEN SCHOOL in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Benelux, UK, Eire, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Mexican Lucha Libre Star Signs Exclusive Deal with Cartoon Network

Masked wrestling star, El Hijo del Santo, has signed an exclusive deal with Cartoon Network Enterprises Latin America for a global licensing program based on the legendary lucha libre icon Santo, the Silver Masked Man. Through this deal, Cartoon Network will have exclusive rights to represent the program in licensing and merchandising ventures. It will originate in Mexico, with plans to expand in the U.S. and other territories around the world. Branded products will be licensed across a number of categories including apparel, school supplies, toys, and electronics.

Disney Plays at Licensing Show

Disney is unveiling a host of licensing programming for its preschool and boy line of properties.

"Parents have enjoyed Mickey and Pooh for years, and now a new generation of preschoolers are being introduced to these characters with a fresh CG-animated look. LITTLE EINSTEINS rounds out a very strong preschool block that blends entertainment with education," said Andy Mooney, chairman of Disney Consumer Products (DCP). Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products comes to Licensing Show, June 20-22, 2006, at the Javits Center in New York City, with a hit-driven roster and expanded licensing programs for its newest hits including AVATAR, THE BACKYARDIGANS and GO, DIEGO, GO! Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products will be located at Booth #1317.

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products will also announce plans for merchandising THE WONDER PETS!, the hit show on Nick Jr. that regularly ranks among the top three preschool shows on commercial television.

Pez Goes CG

Orange, Connecticut-based Pez Candy Inc. is branching out to less proven characters in a line of candy dispensers based on ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN, OVER THE HEDGE and CARS, reports VARIETY. The strategy is to produce a limited number and allow the popular of the films increase the value to collectors.

"We're doing a lot more licenses, and people seem to like it," says Peter Vandall, vp of sales and marketing for Pez. "We're putting out an event almost every other month."

Mickey Mouse was the first licensed character.

Mattel Named Cartoon Network Master Toy Licensee

Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE, Cartoon Networks worldwide consumer products division) struck a long-term global partnership with the worlds leading toy company, Mattel Inc. for a multi-year, multi-property deal. The master toy license agreement covers original Cartoon Network properties for the 6-11 age group and also carries a first-look option on all newly created original series and programming.
