Walt Disney Studios Asia Pacific's animated feature THE MAGIC GOURD scored $2 million in its second weekend in China and will now be turned into a videogame, reports VARIETY. Walt Disney Internet Group plans to release 15 Java-based mobile games based on the film later in the year.

The CG film's week two receipts were down only 16% over its June 29, 2007, opening weekend.

Following its win at the International Festival of Animated Films AniFest, Jan Balej's film ONE NIGHT IN ONE CITY (JEDNE NOCI V JEDNOM MESTE) was awarded the best feature-length animated film award, the Grand Prix Monstra/RTP, at the Lisbon Film Festival.

AtomFilms (www.atomfilms.com) and Aardman Animations announced the debut of PIB AND POG, an original broadband animated series. The series plays exclusively on AtomFilms.com at pibandpog.atomfilms.com and through the AtomFilms Channel on Verizon Wireless' V CAST service. Later this month, PIB AND POG will also be available for download on the AtomFilms Channel on xBox Live.

Set for release on Sept. 18, 2007, from Shout! Factory, THE SIMPSONS: TESTIFY music CD spotlights material culled from award-winning composer Alf Clausen and features the unmistakable voices of America's most beloved TV family: Homer (Dan Castellaneta), Marge (Julie Kavner), Bart (Nancy Cartwright), Lisa (Yeardley Smith) and Springfield's various townsfolk (Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer). The soundtrack kicks off with Danny Elfman's main title theme, and continues with a collection of the best songs from the last nine seasons of the longest running primetime comedy on TV today.

Sony Pictures Ent. has relaunched Grouper as Crackle, a streaming entertainment network. Crackle's comprehensive approach includes a unique programming and editorial strategy, wide-reaching global distribution platforms and collaboration with Sony Pictures Ent., the IMPROV Comedy franchise and other leading media companies.

Cuppa Coffee Studios has started production on the new comedy series LIFE'S A ZOO. The stop-motion package aimed at the 18+ crowd, includes its own Web channel.

As autumn approaches, new original cartoons from Rai Fiction hit Rai's national networks, as well as those of the two satellite kids channels Rai Sat Yoyo and Smash (with around 20% of these channels' offer consisting of cartoons produced by Rai Fiction). In addition, Rai Cartoon, a daily half-hour slot devoted to cartoons produced or co-produced by Rai Fiction, takes to the air on Rai Gulp, the new public service channel for youngsters that began experimental broadcasts on June 1, 2007, using terrestrial digital technology.
