Fox Set To Release Strawberry Shortcake Giftset

On Oct. 18, 2005, Fox Home Ent. will release a new STAWBERRY SHORTCAKE giftset. The Strawberry Shortcake DVD giftset features five favorites, including MEET STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE, GET WELL ADVENTURE, SPRING FOR STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE, ADVENTURES ON ICE CREAM ISLAND and BEST PETS YET. The set will sell for $49.98. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE will be supported by a marketing plan that will deliver more than 60 million impressions with extensive television advertising, direct mail to 4.4 million households and coordinated promotions with major licensees.

VIZ Media To Launch Shonen Jump Home Video Line

VIZ Media Llc. (VIZ Media) announced the further expansion of its popular SHONEN JUMP brand with the launch of the SHONEN JUMP Home Video Line. This new line will offer several highly anticipated anime titles on DVD, based on popular series that originally appeared in the SHONEN JUMP monthly manga anthology. The first two titles offered will be HIKARU NO GO in Dec. 2005 and NARUTO in March 2006.

Cinderella Magical in First Week on DVD

Finishing at the top of the home entertainment sales charts, Buena Vista Home Ent.'s special edition of CINDERELLA sold 3.2 million units in its first week. The 55-year-old animated classic sold twice the amount units the other top new releases Universal's THE INTERPRETER and Sony/MGM's AMITYVILLE HORROR combined. The enchanted release garnered approximately $60 million in one week. ROBOTS, last weeks top seller, slipped to #2.

South Park: The Complete Sixth Season DVD Hits Stores

Cinderella Comes to the DVD Ball

As with the earlier BAMBI, CINDERELLA (1950) gets the complete digital treatment for its DVD debut on Oct. 4, 2005 as part of the select Disney Special Platinum Edition (Buena Vista Home Ent., $29.99), including 4K scanning of the original negative. The results are razor-sharp image and 5.1 audio. Voice work included Ilene Woods as Cinderella, Lucille Bliss as Anastasia and June Foray as Lucifer. Directed by Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson and Hamilton Luske, with standout color and styling contributions from famed illustrator Mary Blair.

Kong Diaries Headed for DVD on Dec. 13

KING KONG: PETER JACKSONS PRODUCTION DIARIES, which have been posted on the KONG website (www.kongisking.net), will be released Dec. 13 as a special two-disc pre-release (Universal Home Ent., $39.98), reports THE DIGITAL BITS.

The set will include 54 production diaries (in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 2.0 audio), an 80-page scrapbook, four exclusive art prints, "collectible packaging" and more. Jacksons highly anticipated remake opens Dec. 14.

CPM Re-Releases Agent Aika & More on DVD

Central Park Media announced that on Sept. 27, 2005, it will re-price and re-release an assortment of its best-selling mainstream anime titles for $9.95 each. Slated for re-release at are the popular AGENT AIKA series from the creators of PROJECT A-KO, the supernatural adventure, GEOBREEDERS, and the comedic PING PONG CLUB series. Box sets for two of these series will also be re-priced and re-released; the two-disc GEOBREEDERS DVD COLLECTION will be available at $19.95, and THE PING PONG CLUB DVD COLLECTION, which includes all 5 of the DVDs, will be $49.95.

Central Park Media Re-Releases Patlabor

Central Park Media has announced that PATLABOR THE MOBILE POLICE: THE ORIGINAL SERIES DVD COLLECTION will be re-released Sept. 20, 2005. This is the show that is currently shown on Comcasts Anime Selects VOD Channel and AZN TV. Directed by Mamoru Oshii (GHOST IN THE SHELL, URUSEI YATSURA, JIN-ROH: THE WOLF BRIGADE), this two-disc set is priced at $29.95. The DVD collection will have audio tracks in both English and Japanese with English subtitles.
