Kabillion To Clear Refrigerators Worldwide

Multi-platform kids' program service Kabillion has partnered with interactive pioneer Little Director to offer an online site where kids can turn their artwork into animated movies. The free area at enables kids to create drawings and submit them to, where, for a reduced fee of $19.95, the drawings will be converted into a short animated movie, complete with music soundtrack. The movies are viewable on Kabillion and can be delivered by mail on a DVD.

MLB 08 The Show Swings this Spring

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) announced that MLB 08 THE SHOW will be available in spring 2008, exclusively for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and PSP.

Reflecting on the history of the franchise, the longest-running officially licensed baseball title on PlayStation platforms, the SCEA San Diego Studios development team went into this season looking to build upon the history and success of the franchise, by raising the level of authenticity and realism, and creating the perfect blend of features and unique gameplay opportunities.

Cartoon Network Has Smashing Ideas for Mobile Games

Smashing Ideas and Cartoon Network announced a strategic partnership for the development and distribution of multiple Cartoon Network mobile games, animated screensavers and wallpapers. Smashing Ideas will distribute the jointly created Cartoon Network content across North America through carriers supporting Flash Lite content. The first deployment is a games channel consisting of two games in Smashing Idea's BREW application "Smashing Games."

The first season of Nickelodeon and Nicktoons Networks' hit animé series KAPPA MIKEY is now available for purchase and download on the iTunes Music Store. Twenty-six full-length episodes -- viewable on a Mac, PC, iPod or iPhone -- are available for $1.99 each.

Vuze Debuts Anime Series

Internet TV service Vuze has signed an exclusive worldwide distribution deal for the anime series NEKO RAHMEN, reports C21 MEDIA. The company will offer the 13-episode hit series free-of-charge with English subtitles and no digital restrictions. Based on Sonishi Kenji's comedy cartoon, NEKO RAHMEN was the most popular short animation series on official streaming site Yahoo! Japan in August of this year. Vuze plans to offer French-, German- and Spanish-subtitled versions by early 2008.

YouTube To Share More Revenue

YouTube has announced the expansion of its Partner Program, the revenue-sharing arrangement whereby the most popular and prolific creators of content for the site are able to earn money from their videos. The new program allows any resident of the U.S. or Canada to apply to become a partner, with more international markets to be added soon.

Hong Kong-based Artificial Life Inc., a provider of award-winning mobile 3G technology and applications, announced that it has signed a worldwide licensing deal with Paramount Digital Ent. to release two exclusive mobile games based on the multiple-Academy Award-winning movie BRAVEHEART and the recent box office hit SHOOTER.

The advanced mobile games will be of the action genre with real-time strategy features and enhanced 3D graphics. The games are scheduled for release and sale globally in early 2008 via on-deck telecom carriers and off-deck resellers.

Exodus Enters Gaming Deal for Igor

Exodus Film Group announced a videogame deal with Interactive Game Group (I2G) and Legacy Interactive for a multi-platform game based on Exodus' CG-animated feature film IGOR. The game will be distributed on Nintendo DS and Wii, PC and wireless. Legacy Interactive will publish the IGOR game in North America and I2G is financing and coordinating the project on a worldwide basis. IGOR is a Weinstein Co. presentation being distributed in U.S. theaters by MGM on Oct. 24, 2008. The Weinstein Co. is handling international sales for the film.

The Nielsen Company and Digimarc Corporation have announced a new service that will enable media companies, social networks, peer-to-peer services and user-generated content sites to monitor and manage the distribution of media content across the Internet. Dubbed "Nielsen Digital Media Manager," the system will use digital watermarking and fingerprinting to enforce copyright compliance and help clients realize the value of their digital content.

Activision, Vivendi Merge into Activision Blizzard

Activision Inc. and Vivendi today announced that they have signed a definitive agreement to combine Vivendi Games -- which includes Blizzard Ent, creators of WORLD OF WARCRAFT -- with Activision, creating the world's largest pure-play online and console game publisher. MTV Networks announced plans to make every clip from every episode of SOUTH PARK available for free online next year, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The move comes on the heels of the Viacom company's success with streaming THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART. Back in August, Comedy Central signed an unprecedented deal with SOUTH PARK creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to share revenue on SOUTH PARK episodes across the Web, mobile phones and videogames.

Paramount Phones In Content Deal with Mumbai's Hungama

Mumbai-based mobile phone content provider Hungama Mobile has entered into an agreement with Paramount Digital Ent. for the distribution of interactive content in the Indian market.

Paramount Digital is part of the Paramount Pictures Corp, a unit of Viacom Inc.

"With extraordinary growth and more new mobile subscribers than in any other country, India presents a great opportunity for our rapidly expanding global business," Paramount Digital Entertainment VP (Asia Pacific) Pradeep Mittur said.

Heroes Headed to Netflix

Netflix Inc. and NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution announced an agreement through which current episodes of the network's top-rated prime-time series HEROES can be watched online by Netflix subscribers the day after their network airings.

The deal follows NBC Universal's announcement that G4 and Mojo will be the off-network cable homes for HEROES and makes Netflix the exclusive SVOD outlet for the series and the third arm of the studio's syndication deal.

1C Publishing Launches Anime-Style Oniblade in EU

1C Publishing EU has brought the first anime-style action game developed in Russia to markets in Europe. The RPG/action game developed by Gaijin Ent. features more than 20 weapons and lethal spells to counter various enemies in many locations throughout a fantasy universe.

In the game, the young heroine Oniblade follows a map to an abandoned temple, which stirs up an ancient war between The Light One and The Dark One -- two creatures that used to be brothers until their fight for supremacy divided them.

Nintendo Kicks Off Holidays with Record-Setting Bang

In the first week of the 2007 holiday shopping season, Nintendo of America has sold more Nintendo products than at any other time in its history. This includes more than 653,000 Nintendo DS systems, 350,000 Wii consoles and millions of games and accessories throughout the United States.

Nintendo DS set a new all-time sales record for Thanksgiving week, eclipsing the previous mark of 600,000 Game Boy Advance systems sold during the same period in the U.S. in 2005. Nintendo DS remains on track to be the top-selling videogame system of 2007.

Super-Ego Games announced that it has tapped renowned New York City comedians to write and voice its recently announced game RAT RACE, the first-ever episodic console game, coming to the PlayStation Network this winter. The company has enlisted comedic talent from the NYC stand-up comedy circuit and from popular shows including SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS and more.
