Warners Interactive Unveils Look At Project Origin

Warner Bros. Interactive Ent. has pulled the veil on a collection of all-new images and footage from PROJECT ORIGIN, developer Monolith Productions' sequel to the critically acclaimed supernatural first-person shooter F.E.A.R.

PROJECT ORIGIN once again throws players in a near-future cityscape saturated with conspiracy, high-tech combat and the supernatural. Players will face tense and highly kinetic combat against human adversaries and unknown paranormal forces in a desperate struggle to stop Alma, a girl with immense power and a thirst for revenge.

More Video, Interactivity For NBC Digital

NBC Digital Entertainment announced this week its full slate of content for their summer and fall seasons.

Among the highlights are original webisodes for HEROES, CHUCK and THE OFFICE as well as 30 ROCK 360, a new original digital production: FEARS, SECRETS & LIES and extensive digital features for each new show.

The announcements were made by Vivi Zigler, Executive Vice President, NBC Digital Entertainment.

Disney-ABC And MobiTV Partner For Mobile TV Users

Disney-ABC Television Group and MobiTV, the leader in mobile and broadband entertainment services, announced a content licensing agreement under which MobiTV will offer Disney Channel to MobiTV service subscribers.

The same content and programming as seen on cable and satellite television is now available to MobiTV service subscribers on their enabled wireless handsets via MobiTV's carrier partners.

LucasArts Appoints New President

Darrell Rodriguez has been named president of LucasArts, the videogame division of Lucasfilm Ltd., it was announced today by Lucasfilm President Micheline Chau.

He replaces Jim Ward, who stepped down in February.

"Darrell is the ideal person to run LucasArts," Chau said. "Having worked at both Electronic Arts and Disney Imagineering he brings the perfect blend of production, operational, and creative expertise. For a games company such as LucasArts with its roots in film, this is an electric combination."

ROCK BAND will be released on Wii this summer in the U.S. and Canada.

The game was developed by Harmonix and MTV Games, along with distribution partner Electronic Arts.

Ubisoft Gets Rights To Clancy Video Games

Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, has closed an agreement with Tom Clancy to acquire all intellectual property rights to the Clancy name.

The agreement is on a perpetual basis and free of all related future royalty payments, for use in video games and ancillary products including related books, movies and merchandising products.

The price of the all-cash acquisition was not currently disclosed.

Steamy Romance Novels In Manga Form On Cell Phones, Oh My!

Harlequin Enterprises finalized an agreement by their Japanese operation, Harlequin K.K., to provide digital manga content to SoftBank Creative of SoftBank Group, one of the largest providers of cell phone services in Japan.

Harlequin is the global leader in series romance and one of the world's leading publishers of women's fiction.

Beginning in April 2008 SoftBank will distribute digital versions of Harlequin K.K.'s successful comics on cell phones and Internet distribution sites.

Familiar Voices For Iron Man Video Game

The IRON MAN video game, based on the successful Marvel comic book series and the upcoming film by Marvel Studios, will feature the voice talents of Robert Downey Jr., Terence Howard and Shaun Toub.

All three actors will reprise their onscreen roles of Tony Stark (Downey), Lt. Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Howard), and Yinsen (Toub). The IRON MAN video game launches day and date with the movie on May 2.

Manhunt On For U.K.

The British Board of Film Classification has lifted a year-long ban on MANHUNT 2, by publisher Rockstar, VARIETY reports.

Calling it an "unremittingly bleak, callous and sadistic" game, the board banned the game last year, its first refusal in a decade.

An appeals committee overturned the ban on March 14, and Rockstar will release the game in the UK in June.

MANHUNT 2 depicts a scientist who executes anyone in his path while trying to escape from a secret research facility.
